Polo Forest’s history dates back to around the 10th century when the Parihar kings of Idar established a town along the Harnav River. This town was later conquered by the Rathores of Marwar in the 15th century, subsequently becoming part of the Idar State.

The town was demolished most likely because the hills blocked sunlight for most of the year. It is located between the high hills of Kalaliyo and Mamrehchi. The name “Polo” is derived from the word “pol,” which means “gate” in both the Marwari and Gujarati languages.
